DJ HalfCuts is a hot and rising female DJ in Melbourne’s hip clubbing scene. The inspiration for her unique name comes from her exotic background of Samoan and Sri Lankan heritage.
Where did your DJ name come from?
LOL Being a half caste. Get it? HalfCuts because I’m half caste?!
When and how did you start as a DJ?
Door bitching = being asked to learn how to DJ
Who was your inspiration?
My mum and my uncle, for teaching me the 'essentials' in R & B.
Tell us about your music style. Any specific genres?
R & B dizzle! Ol' skool and ol' skool isnt 'Return of the mac' kids. I'm talking motown and everything in between.
What images and emotions do you want your music to invoke in the listener?
‘OMG I haven’t heard this song in aaages! I love this' I love the whole nostalgic feel when songs take you back to the good ol' days. It’s when you remember a certain someone, something, a time, a place or something you were doing. Not many of the songs played today will have that 'feel', I don’t think.
Which event was your virgin play?
DEC 18th 2009! Booyah!
Which other countries have you played/put parties on?
Umm I harassed some poor DJ in Thailand to let me play whilst I was overseas.. does that count?
What's the best event you've played at/put on? Why?
Debut was awesome-heaps of fun and I think I did ok!

When you play, Is it a pre-planned set? Explain pls.
Nah I just go with whatever the crowd looks like they are enjoying and keep it coming until someone throws me off.
Out of all the tunes you have, which is your 'fail proof track’?
Anything by Beyonce. Chicks dig it.
Tell us your most embarrassing moment on the decks?
Well apparently my dress was see through :|
Have you ever done anything naughty while playing behind the decks?
Oh, umm. Due to censorship I’m not allowed to say.

Yep, and it interferes with my DJ’in :p

Breakfast is macas drive-thru, specifically 20 mcchicken nuggets.

MJ-ROck with you... i only just realised how much i am in love with it.
